A goal in hockey is hard to come by. It usually requires the combined effort of many individuals. A Hat Trick (Three goals in a game by the same person) is nearly impossible.
Former Central Hockey League on-ice official, Tim Zemens, established the non-profit Hoffen Foundation during the summer of 2003, along with his brother, Ron and sister-in-law Karen. After Tim’s personal experience surviving cancer, losing family to the disease and experiencing the positive effects of friends and family reaching out during difficult times, he fostered the desire to give back. He made visits to children's wards at hospitals while traveling to hockey assignments. His main focus was to assist children with differing diseases, disabilities and socioeconomic challenges.
